Ed Ghaui - Fishing/Safari Guide
Ed Ghaui's grew up in both Kenya and Tanzania having family in both countries. He went to school in Kenya before moving to Hilton College, South Africa for his High School Education. His father Mike, is a well renowned wildlife Artist and Sculptor.
Ed graduated from Edinburgh University where he studied ecological science and wildlife management and then worked in Tanzania with Nomad Tanzania for 2 years. During this time he spent time at Sand rivers, Chada Katavi and Greystoke Mahale.
Ed's passion foremost is fishing and he has spent the last 3 seasons working at Manda Bay - developing the fly - fishing in the area and more recently he ferried Shakina - a 38 ft custom built Catamaran up from Port Alfred( South Africa) to Manda Bay and skippered her for last season. During the off- season months, Ed has worked in Russia with Roxtons for the last 3 seasons Managing one of their fishing lodges on the 'Middle Varzuga' on the Kola Peninsular south east of Murmansk.
In addition to his passion for fishing, Ed is an artist like his father and a keen photographer.
Sam & Flick
Sam was born and brought up in Thika on a coffee plantation just north of Nairobi. Having schooled in Nairobi and the UK, Sam went to New Zealand where he obtained degrees in Zoology and Marketing in between fly fishing and playing rugby. He met Flick over there who was also doing a degree in marketing and food science.
Flick's passion for making food and Sam's passion for eating it made a perfect mix. Flick decided to return to Kenya with Sam after their studies, where they ran tented camps and lodges in the Masai Mara and Meru National Park - a far cry from Flick's family sheep station in Canterbury!
They joined Laragai as managers in January 2009. Sam is a FGASA and KPSGA qualified guide and FGASA trails guide - having trained in the Makuleke on the Limpopo Mozambique/Zimbabwe border in South Africa.
