Cool days and cold nights on Mt. Kenya
Season: Open December to October
Safari Outline: Riding safaris are for the more adventurous equestrians. The horses are home-bred thoroughbred crosses and are forward-going. The land around Borana is waiting to be explored; the wilderness of the tribal lands to the North, the wildlife-rich neighbouring ranches and the purple moorlands and numerous lakes of Mt. Kenya. Maximum of 10 people and a minimum of 4. Riders should be fit for the saddle and there is a weight limit of 95 kgs.
Accommodation: Starting from Borana Lodge or Laragai, each night thereafter will either be in a fly camp, for a more authentic night in the African bush, on one of the community owned lodges - Tassia or Il N’gwesi of up in the log cabins of Lake Rutundu on the slopes of Mt. Kenya.
Activities: Ride through scenic bush, getting surprisingly close to the wildlife. Catch glimpses of the magnificent views to the North while riding under the shaded canopy of the forests heading towards the tribal lands. See Mt. Kenya up close in the pure mountain air, with the scent of wild herbs crushed under horses hooves.
